The UIC pavillion was the location for Mike “Kujo” Kurzeja’s pro boxing debut. He entered on a mission, and before the end of that first round that mission was accomplished. The referee stopped the bout giving Mike his first win as a pro by KO. Congratulations Mike!!!!

The road to the Supercop lead us all the way to the Southside today, specifically to the Beverly neighborhood in Chicago. When you mention boxing on the southside, the name McGarry’s is often the first word spoken. Mcgarry’s gym had the first Supercop Champion way back in 1997, with Kevin Farrell winning that title. Now, Montel Griffin is training 2007 Supercop Heavyweight champ Joshua Purkiss. Joshua will be going after the Light Heavyweight title at 205.
